Cultural Dimension Scores Based on extensive organizational culture research, each cultural dimension is composed of several survey questions targeted to reveal "how it really is around here," what is important, truly valued and widely practiced at multiple levels in the organization, not merely what is espoused or ideal. The results of the Cultural Dimension scores for all respondents are represented in a bar graph format (as a profile report) with standard scores sorted from high to low on a scale from 0 to 100, with 50 being the average score. The number of respondents is indicated at the bottom of the page as well as the integration index, which represents the level of integration or fragmentation within the organization. A score of 100 indicates absolute agreement across the organization on a given dimension, 50 is average, scores under 35 indicate a highly fragmented culture. |
Cultural Factor Profiles The Cultural Factor Profile highlights 8 factors that consist of the cultural dimensions that are closely related and clustered together as a unit to make up a cultural factor. For example: Factor 1 Concern to Employee Needs vs Indifference to Employee Needs clusters related scales such as teamwork, trust, loyalty, participation, openness, expressiveness, supportiveness. Factor 3 Stable/Relaxed vs Unstable/Pressured is composed of the related scales (cultural dimensions) such as job security, work ethic, time horizon (long term vs short term planning) time urgency, pressure and stress. |
Factor Compositions The factor compositions allow you to view closely the related scales that makes-up each of the eight factors and your organization's overall scores for these scales. This breakdown removes the black box from the factor scores, thus offering insight into the aspects of your organization that contributed to the factor score. |
Comparison Report Comparison reports reveal the views of different subgroups within an organization. Such reports uncover differing views that often pinpoint problems areas by showing that certain groups view the organization differently from other groups. For example, the sample comparison report shows that people who have been with the organization for less than one year have a different view of the organization's culture than employees who have been there longer. This may signify that the organization has undergone recent changes that new employees readily see but existing employees have not yet noticed. Or the discrepancy may mean that new employees feel like outsiders in the organization. Our consultants can help identify the exact nature of problems uncovered by the Comparison Reports. The comparison reports are based on the demographic questions asked at the beginning of the CAT. As a value-added service, your organization can also specify custom demographic questions that pertain to the unique components of your culture. Comparison reports are not a part of the standard CAT Report, but they can be requested as an additional service. |
Item Level Data Highest and Lowest Rated Items: The CAT Report includes a detailed ranking of the 20 most highly rated items (questions) on the survey. This ranking indicates the items in which the respondents moderately or strongly agree. The 20 lowest rated items range from moderately disagree to strongly disagree. Access to the item level data of a particular cultural dimension provides detailed information and insights about specific aspects of the organization's culture and the degree to which there is agreement or disagreement on the most salient high and low ranked items. Most Integrated and Most Fragmented Items: The CAT Report also presents a detailed ranking of the 20 most integrated items and the 20 most fragmented items. A complete frequency distribution, the raw score mean, standardized mean, and positive/negative loading of each item are included. This data focuses on the specific areas in which members of your organization agree or disagree on its culture. |
Detailed information for subgroups Taking the Comparison Reports to the next level, full CAT Reports are available for subgroups within an organization. These reports contain all the elements of the standard CAT Report, but only the data for specific demographic groups is used. They allow you to view all 42 scale scores and the eight factor scores for different subgroups. By comparing the CAT reports for different subgroups, you can identify the specific cultural scales in which these groups differ. Any combination of demographic data can be used. For example, you can request a report for all male Directors and Vice Presidents that have more than one year of service. The only restriction to these reports is that the final group of respondents must contain at least ten respondents. This is necessary to insure the integrity of the data and to protect the anonymity of the respondents. |
